Fuel fills tank, returns with new album, singer

Alt-rockers Fuel are set to return to the road behind a new album, the band's first studio work since the departure of original lead singer Brett Scallions early last year.

New vocalist Toryn Green replaces Scallions in the band, which also tabbed ex-Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart to fill its vacancy behind the drum kit.

The selection of Green in June 2006 followed the group's notable attempt last year to coax then-"American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry into the band's frontman vacancy. Daughtry went on to score a huge chart success behind his self-titled debut album.

The reconstituted group will tackle a brief, seven-date summer tour ahead of the Aug. 7 release of its new album, "Angels and Devils," starting with a June 29 slot at Milwaukee's Summerfest. The full schedule is included below.

Guitarist Carl Bell and bassist Jeff Abercrombie--the remaining original members of Fuel--spent more than two years writing "Angels and Devils," according to a press release. The album is the band's first full-length studio effort since 2003's "Natural Selection." The group released a greatest hits collection, "The Best of Fuel," in 2005.

"Wasted Time," the new set's leadoff single, is due to hit radio stations June 19, and is currently streaming at the band's website.
