Snoop Dogg rolls out 'Tha Blue Carpet' for Cali
The superstar rapper/producer/entrepreneur has gigs booked in Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Diego June 25-27. Details are listed below. He'll then head to Europe July 1 for a slew of festival dates, including a headlining slot at the Hamburg, Germany installment of the massive Live Earth concert, an event that will span seven continents over 24 hours to bring attention to the climate crisis. Snoop's overseas shows are listed at his website.
The laid-back rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, released his latest studio set, "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment," in November. The album, which reached No. 5 on The Billboard 200, reunites Snoop with Dr. Dre for the first time in five years and incorporates a long lineup of collaborators including R. Kelly, D'Angelo, Jamie Foxx, Akon, Pharrell and Timbaland.
The video for album's latest single, "Boss' Life" featuring Nate Dogg, is streaming at Snoop's website.
Snoop also appears on April's "Snoop Dogg Presents the Big Squeeze," a compilation that features up-and-coming West Coast artists. A few songs from that set are streaming at Snoop Dogg's MySpace page.
In addition to his music career, Broadus has kept busy with a slew of other projects including acting, coaching the Snoop Youth Football League and taking a lead role in the battle to keep peace among the players in the rap community. He also has his own Snoopadelic Film company and an XM Satellite Radio show, and recently released his first book, "Love Don't Live Here No More."
Snoop Dogg, who isn't shy when it comes to rapping about getting high, was recently in the news for a marijuana and weapons bust that landed him five years probation.
