Briefly: Treasure Island fest, T.I., CMA Awards, Paul Simon

The inaugural Treasure Island Music Festival , set to take place at the former military site in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, is set for Sept. 15.

Confirmed acts so far include Modest Mouse , Thievery Corporation , Spoon , Gotan Project , DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Built To Spill, M.I.A., Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, among others.

Tickets go on sale Sunday (6/24) via Ticketmaster. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.)

Rapper T.I. will headline a free show tomorrow (6/20) at The Riviera Theater in Chicago, according to event organizer MySpace. Nick Cannon will host the show, which will also feature appearances by DJ GQ and Chicago-based rappers Twista and Lupe Fiasco .

Organizers of the annual Country Music Association Awards show announced today (6/20) that this year's event will take place Nov. 7 and will air live on ABC.

"The CMA Awards is 'Country Music's Biggest Night' and is one of the most highly anticipated events for our industry each year," CMA Chief Operating Officer Tammy Genovese said in a press release. "It's a night to applaud our best and brightest performers, songwriters, record producers and music video directors. And we are ready to make this the most outstanding Awards broadcast to date."

This year's nominees will be announced in late August, according to the CMA.

On June 26, Warner Bros. Records will issue "The Essential Paul Simon ," a two-disc anthology featuring 36 songs by the legendary singer/songwriter.

The set will also be available as a deluxe edition bundled with a bonus DVD that will feature six music videos, "Saturday Night Live" performances and apearances, and an appearance on "The Dick Cavett" show, according to Warner Bros.
