B.B. King gets around on anniversary tour

The itinerary for B.B. King 's 60th Anniversary Tour has the blues legend all over the US map through the end of the year.
The 81-year-old entertainer is currently making up a few dates he had to cancel in January due to the flu, and is playing around the East Coast up to the start of his his B.B. King Blues Festival tour with fellow music legends Al Green and Etta James . That trek kicks off July 24 in Hollywood, FL, and runs through mid-September.
In the midst of the festival tour, King will also play a number of his own shows and hit the July 28 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Bridgeview, IL, as well as Rhode Island's Aug. 12 jNewport Jazz Festival. After the B.B. King Blues Festival wraps, the singer/guitarist will soldier on with solo dates from coast to coast through December. Details are listed below.
Despite the fact that King vowed not to tour abroad anymore after 2006, the 15-time Grammy winner is obviously not slowing down. When he's not playing live, he's being called to pick up accolades, the most recent one being an honorary doctor of music degree from Providence, RI's Brown University. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also has a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammy organization on his mantel and added the Presidential Medal of Freedom award in December.
King has released more than 50 albums during his career including 2005's "80," which marked his landmark birthday. The collection of duets won a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Earlier this year, King put out the "Standing Room Only" DVD, which captures a live show recorded at the Trump Marina Hotel in Atlantic City.
