The Who Adds Northern California Stop To Tour
SACRAMENTO, Calif.-- The Who has added an Aug. 22 performance at the new Sacramento Valley Amphitheater in Marysville, Calif. to its summer tour itinerary. Tickets will go on sale on June 3, according to promoter SFX Entertainment.
The Who opens its tour on June 25 near Chicago, but has scheduled a charity warm-up show for June 6. The private show, which will take place at the Javits Convention Center in New York, will be hosted by Robin Williams. Concert-goers will shell out $2,000 each for tickets, and the proceeds will benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, an anti-poverty organization.
In other Who-related news, Pete Townshend has decided to postpone "until further notice" the release of "The Lifehouse Method," a limited-edition follow-up to his 6-CD "Lifehouse Chronicles" set. On a posting to his official website, Townshend wrote that part of the reason for the delay was because sponsorship funding for the project fell through. Also, the Who's preparations for the upcoming tour are now in full swing.
"The Lifehouse Method"--which includes essays concerning "Lifehouse" and newly commissioned artwork by Alex Templeton--will be limited to a run of 2001 hand-made packages. Townshend's camp has not announced how the sets will be distributed.
