Brad Paisley puts tour into '5th Gear'
Country heartthrob Brad Paisley is getting ready to resume his Bonfires and Amplifiers Tour, which has already taken in more than 250,000 fans during its first 23 stops.
Following a three-week break, the singer will pick up again in St. Clairsville, OH, and hit states through November primarily in the eastern half of the US and provinces all over Canada. Several shows have been added and some moved around since last check; the current itinerary is listed below.
So far, Paisley has seen a 42 percent increase in attendance over last year's Time Well Wasted tour, which trade magazine Pollstar ranked as the No. 4 country outing of the year for attendance, according to a press release.
Paisley is also riding high on his new album, "5th Gear," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 last month. The record earned the Grammy-nominated performer the highest first-week sales of his career, with more than 197,000 copies flying off the shelf, according to a press release.
The set's first single, "Ticks," which scored Paisley his eighth No. 1, is streaming at his MySpace page. The video for follow-up single "Online," which features celebrity guests including William Shatner and Jason Alexander, recently topped the iTunes sales chart, making it the first time a country song has ever topped the list, according to a statement. That video is streaming at Paisley's website.
"5th Gear" follows the double-platinum "Time Well Wasted," which won Album of the Year at the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music award ceremonies.
Paisley, this year's ACM Top Male Vocalist, recently premiered his first Great American Country concert special--a 90-minute program featuring his live show and backstage interviews. The special, "Brad Paisley 5th Gear," is set to re-air July 9-10.
The country star can also be heard on the recent album release "Anchored In Love: A Tribute to June Carter Cash," on which he contributes a rendition of "Keep on the Sunny Side."
