Indie rockers Bloc Party [ tickets ] will return to North America in September for a month-long headlining tour as the band continues to support its latest studio effort, "A Weekend in the City.

The group will kick off its outing Sept. 7 in Chicago, with a total of 17 cities on the calendar. Most of the destinations are in the US, with brief side trips to Canada and Mexico. The full itinerary is included below.

Bloc Party is backing its February release, "A Weekend in the City," which follows its 2005 full-length debut, "Silent Alarm." The new album debuted at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 album chart, with 48,000 copies sold in the US during its first week out.

"Hunting for Witches," the politically charged third single from the album, is scheduled for a July 9 release. Frontman Kele Okereke recently told Billboard.com that the song addresses a concern with media outlets stoking the fires of public fears in a post-9/11 world.

"The 30 bus in Hackney, which is just around the corner from where I live, was blown up," Okereke said. "[That song was] written when I was just observing the reactions of the mainstream press in [the UK] and I was just amazed at how easy it'd been to whip them up into a fury.

"I guess the point about the song for me is, post-September 11th, the media has really traded on fear and the use of fear in controlling people."
