Against Me! rolls out 'New Wave' of August shows

Alt-rockers Against Me! will support their just-released studio album, "New Wave," with an August headlining tour focused on large clubs and small theaters.

With the album shipping today (7/10), the Florida punk revivalists will give their fans a few weeks to get used to the new songs before kicking off Aug. 1 in Des Moines, IA. The 14-city tour will run through late August. The band's full schedule is included below.

"New Wave" is the group's fourth studio album, and first since the band signed to Sire Records in 2005, entering the studio in October 2006 with producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage).

"One of the things I found refreshing in their music, in Tom's lyrics, is that they give a sh--, but they're never preachy or anything," Vig said in a press release. "He's saying something that makes you think about what's going on. The songs lyrically are complicated and dense. They're not simple pop songs, but they rock."

The band recently posted a streaming "making of the album" clip on its website.
