Briefly: Avenged Sevenfold, Depeche Mode, 'The Hottest State,' Alan Jackson
Tattooed rockers Avenged Sevenfold will usher in their forthcoming DVD, "All Excess," with a release-eve screening at a number of movie theaters around the country.
On July 16, the night before the disc's release, "All Excess" will hit screens in Los Angeles; St. Louis; San Diego; Detroit; Phoenix; Parsippany, NJ; and the band's hometown of Huntington Beach, CA. Specific details, including ticketing info, are available at the event promoter's website.
"This DVD has been eight years in the making," Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows said in a press release. "We didn't want to cheat the fans by putting out a standard live DVD. Instead we wanted to focus on giving back to our fans by showing them what makes five best friends from Huntington Beach eat, sleep and breathe the Avenged Sevenfold lifestyle. 'All Excess' shows everything from life backstage, on the bus, and some of the first shows in our hometown. We didn't leave anything off that fans have been asking about for years. Unlike cookie-cutter concert DVDs, this is a documentary you can watch again and again for years to come."
Rhino Records has pushed back to Oct. 2 the release date for deluxe reissues of the Depeche Mode albums "Ultra" and "Exciter," which were originally due in stores July 24, according to a press release. No reason was given for the delay.
As has been the case with the label's previous reissues from the band's catalog, both albums will be released as a two-disc sets that feature the original album on an audio CD, and an expanded, DVD version housing 5.1 Surround Sound and Enhanced Stereo remixes of the set, along with b-sides and live performance cuts. Each DVD also contains a short film about the album, which features new interviews with the band members.
Willie Nelson , Emmylou Harris , Norah Jones , Cat Power , Bright Eyes , Feist , The Black Keys, M. Ward, Brad Mehldau and Tony Scherr are among the artists who will appear on the forthcoming soundtrack to the film "The Hottest State," which is due in stores Aug. 7.
Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Jesse Harris wrote all of the music for the collection, and he performs on three of the songs. In addition, Harris served as the album's co-executive producer alongside the film's star, Ethan Hawke, and also has a small role in the flick.
Alan Jackson and The Wreckers have joined the roster for ABC's July 23 country music special, "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock." As a tie-in with the network's programming, fellow country singer Kellie Pickler will perform her single "I Wonder" during the July 23 episode of "Good Morning America."
"It's a very personal song and I cry almost every time I sing it," Pickler said in a press release. "So, I better make sure I'm wearing the waterproof mascara that day."
