Chris Isaak expands US outing
The singer/songwriter/guitarist--who hit the road in May for a month-long outing with Stevie Nicks --is back to headlining his own shows at a mix of clubs, theaters, casinos and wineries. He continues the trek tonight (7/12) with a show at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, CA. The itinerary is listed below.
The retro-rocker's most recent album, "Best of Chris Isaak," was released last year. The set comes in a 14-song CD version that includes three new songs and an acoustic rendition of "Forever Blue," as well as a DVD that comprises 18 music videos and a commentary from the man himself.
The album also includes two covers: Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me," which has been a live favorite for Isaak, and a live version of "Only The Lonely" by Isaak's hero, Roy Orbison.
One of the new tunes, "King Without a Castle," is streaming at Isaak's website and MySpace page.
The best-of collection follows 2004's "Chris Isaak Christmas," which features 11 traditional songs (including "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" with Nicks) and five originals. Isaak, who spent a few years focusing on his acting career, last released a new, non-seasonal studio album with 2002's "Always Got Tonight."
During his more than two-decade career, Isaak has released nine albums, scored two Grammy nominations, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own TV series on Showtime.
