Bjork returns to North America

Icelandic songstress Bjork has added a new leg of North American dates this fall as she continues to support her most recent studio album, "Volta."

The singer, who is currently in the middle of a European trek, will land in Toronto on Sept. 8 to kick off a brief run on this side of the Atlantic. The six-city outing will also hit Detroit, New York, Atlanta and Montreal, as well as Austin, TX, for a Sept. 14 appearance at the Austin City Limits Festival. The full American itinerary is included below.

Pre-sale tickets for the shows will be doled out beginning Wednesday (7/18) via the singer's official website.

"Volta" is the follow-up to 2004's "Medulla." Bjork wrote and produced the set, with production assistance from Timbaland and Mark Bell on three tracks.

The album, Bjork's sixth solo effort since departing The Sugarcubes in 1992, features several collaborations with other artists, including Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons), who appears on two tracks.

Released in May, the set debuted in the No. 9 slot on The Billboard 200 album chart, the singer's highest charting debut of her career. According to her publicist, the album has sold more than a half million copies since its release.
