Machine Head, Arch Enemy deliver Black Tyranny Tour
North America should get its fill of heavy-duty metal this summer and fall when The Black Tyranny Tour rolls through with headliners Machine Head and Arch Enemy .
The metalcore outing, which will also feature supporting acts Throwdown and Sanctity , is set to kick off Sept. 7 in Anaheim, CA. It will make its way across the US and back through mid-October, with stops in a couple of Canadian provinces planned along the way. Details are listed below.
Following The Black Tyranny Tour, Machine Head and Arch Enemy will join another slate of metal bands for The Black Crusade, which launches in late October with a handful of dates in Australia and then heads to Europe in late November. Information about those shows can be found at Machine Head's website.
The relentless-touring, Bay Area-based Machine Head is supporting its sixth album, "The Blackening," which debuted at No. 54 on The Billboard 200 in April--an all-time high for the band. Produced by guitarist/frontman Robb Flynn, the set is billed in the band's bio as the most complex and darkest material the band has written in its 13-year career. A couple of songs from the record are streaming at Machine Head's MySpace page. "The Blackening" follows 2003's critically acclaimed "Through the Ashes of Empires" and 2005's live DVD "Elegies."
Swedish death-metal rockers Arch Enemy recently completed work on their seventh album, "Rise of the Tyrant," and are planning a Sept. 24 release. The set, which follows 2005's "Doomsday Machine," marks the return of guitarist Christopher Amott. The band has described "Rise of the Tyrant" as "the perfect mix of melody and brutality."
Arch Enemy also has a couple of UK festival dates scheduled next month before launching The Black Tyranny Tour. Those gigs are listed at the band's website.
