Carrie Underwood readies new album
Country/crossover star Carrie Underwood has nailed down a release date for the follow-up to her award-wining, multi-platinum debut, "Some Hearts."
The singer's as-yet-untitled sophomore set is expected to hit the streets Oct. 23. The album is produced by Mark Bright, who helmed seven tracks on "Some Hearts," and includes Underwood in the songwriting credits.
Released in late 2005, "Some Hearts" has spawned crossover hits including "Jesus Take the Wheel," "Before He Cheats," "Wasted" and "Don't Forget to Remember Me," which all have appeared on country and pop charts. The album is one of only two country debuts in history to sell 6 million copies, according to a press release. Several songs from "Some Hearts" are streaming at Underwood's website.
The fourth-season "American Idol" winner scored two Grammys this year--Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance--and is the reigning Female Vocalist of the Year for both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.
As she prepares for the release of her new album, Underwood is spending a little time on the road playing fairs and festivals. She continues the trek Thursday (7/19) at Twin Lakes, WI's Country Thunder USA. Since last check, new fair dates have been added in Syracuse, NY, and Allentown, PA. Details are listed below.
