Keyshia Cole preps for new album, tour
R&B singer/songwriter Keyshia Cole has her sophomore album on deck and is getting ready to launch a US tour to support it.
Cole will hit the road July 21 in Baltimore, and play clubs and theaters across the country into September. Half of the 20-show run will be played in House of Blues venues, including a two-night stand Sept. 2-3 at the HoB in West Hollywood, CA. Details are listed below.
The 25-year-old songstress, who's been lauded for her edgier take on female urban music, has penciled in a Sept. 11 release date for her new album, "Just Like You." The lead single from the set, "Let It Go" featuring Missy Elliot and Lil' Kim, dropped last month and is streaming at Cole's MySpace page. The Benny Boom-directed video for the song is streaming at the singer's website.
"Just Like You" follows Cole's 2005 platinum-selling debut, "The Way It Is," which reached No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the magazine's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. That set spawned hit singles "I Should Have Cheated" and "Love."
In addition to recording a new album, Cole has been busy working on her small-screen career. She landed a starring role in the upcoming MTV film "How She Moves" and is prepping season two of her BET-network docu-drama reality series, "The Way It Is 2," which will start airing in October.
The first season of the series gave viewers insight into Cole's rise to fame from her troubled past as the daughter of a drug addict growing up in Oakland, CA. The next six-episode season will focus on the performer's continued growth and evolution, as well as her strained relationship with her mother, according to a press release.
