Ozzfest unleashes second wave of free tickets
After watching 428,000 free tickets disappear in a matter of days last month, Ozzfest organizers have released a second allotment of freebies into circulation.
Although organizers aren't disclosing the exact number of ducats to be handed out during the second distribution--which cover the ongoing festival's 21 remaining dates--they say they hope all fans who wish to will be able to obtain a free ticket through concert-promotion giant Live Nation's website and various tour sponsors, including the FYE chain of music stores.
According to organizers, the 428,000 tix given away in June represented the largest number of free tickets distributed in the US in the history of the concert business.
This year, the 12th annual installment of Ozzfest features namesake Ozzy Osbourne on the main stage alongside Static X, Lamb of God and Finnish band Lordi . The second stage will feature headliner Hatebreed , along with Behemoth, Mondo Generator, Nile, Ankla, Circus Diablo, The Showdown, 3 Inches of Blood, Daath, Chthonic and In This Moment.
The hard-rock extravaganza, dubbed "Freefest" by tour organizers, kicked off earlier this month, and is set to resume tomorrow (7/19) in Mountain View, CA. The remaining dates are listed below.
Osbourne, who surprised fans last year with a handful of second-stage performances, is returning to the headlining slot with a new album under his belt. "Black Rain," the rocker's first set of new material in six years, debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 last month.
