Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony to launch tour together
Pop stars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will co-headline a tour this fall that will mark the couple's first professional appearances together since the two were wed in 2004.
The outing, which kicks off Sept. 29 in Atlantic City, is also Lopez's first concert tour of any kind. Only the Atlantic City show and an Oct. 17 date in San Jose, CA, are currently confirmed, with the remainder to be announced next week, according to the tour's promoters.
Tickets for the tour--which will include stops in the US and Canada as well as Puerto Rico, according to organizers--go on sale Aug. 10.
Singer/actress Lopez and her husband, Grammy-winning singer Anthony, will perform separate sets of their own respective material during the shows, culminating with the pair appearing for another set together, according to a press release. Each will perform songs in both English and Spanish, a nod to the cross-cultural popularity of both performers.
A dollar from each ticket sold will benefit Run for Something Better, a childhood fitness program created by the tour's sponsor, global financial services company ING. Concertgoers will also have the opportunity to donate to the campaign in person at each venue.
"When I was a kid, we spent most of our time outside visiting in the neighborhood with friends," Lopez said in a press statement. "This is the first generation of kids who are so sedentary and the first whose parents might outlive them. We really need to be active in encouraging healthy eating and the joys and fun of exercising."
Lopez released her first all-Spanish album, "Como Ana una Mujer," in March. Anthony's most recent studio effort is the just-released soundtrack to the film "El Cantante," which he also starred in, portraying Puerto Rican singer Hector Lavoe. Lopez co-starred as Lavoe's wife.
