Chevelle hits the road for 'Vena Sera'
Alt-metal trio Chevelle shifts into touring gear in late August with a headlining outing to support the its latest studio album, April's "Vena Sera."
Formerly comprised of three brothers, the group--which kicks off the tour Aug. 25 in Grayslake, IL--is backing its first studio effort since the 2005 firing of bassist Joe Loeffler. Sam (drums) and Pete Loeffler (guitar/vocals) have since replaced him with their brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini.
"He blew me away with the knowledge of the material," Pete Loeffler said of Bernardini in a press release. "And he sings really well, which is something we've never had. He's a music fan, a musician and a really talented performer."
The band will hit 15 cities on its late summer outing. Dates are included below.
For the group's fourth studio album, the trio first holed up for two weeks in Chicago with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Static-X, Saliva) nailing down the album's material before traveling to Las Vegas to lay down the tracks.
"It was a totally different vibe," said Pete of the recording sessions at a studio located inside the Palms Casino. "It was chaotic and crazy. We'd get up and go work for a while. Then, at nine or 10 at night, we'd hit a different club or go to a different venue."
"We decided to make the experience like a vacation," added Sam. "And we were disciplined enough to separate the work we needed to do from the fun we wanted to have."
