Eagles, Dixie Chicks extend Nokia Theatre run

The Eagles and Dixie Chicks ' two-night grand opening concerts at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre L.A. Live sold out so fast yesterday (8/13) that four more shows have been added.

The bands are now scheduled to co-headline six shows at the 7,100-seat venue between Oct. 18 and 27. The dates will mark both groups' only US concerts this year, according to a press release. Details are listed below.

The Eagles reportedly are getting ready to release their first full-length studio album since 1979's "The Long Run." The forthcoming set, "Long Road Out of Eden," is due in October and the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers expect to tour throughout 2008, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Dixie Chicks, who hold the title of biggest-selling female group in history, made a major comeback with last year's "Taking the Long Way," which scored five Grammy Awards in February.

Landing the superstar bands is quite a coup for the state-of-the-art Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, which is located in downtown Los Angeles across the street from the Staples Center. The facility, billed as an intimate theater with no seat further than 210 feet from the stage, expects to host more than 120 events annually, including music, dance, comedy and family shows.

The theater is the heart of the 4-million-square-foot L.A. Live sports, residential and entertainment district, which will also house the 2,200-capacity Club Nokia concert venue.
