The Shins return to the road for fall tour
After polishing off a couple of big festivals in September, The Shins return to the headlining circuit this fall as the band continues to support its latest studio set, "Wincing the Night Away."
The indie-pop outfit will kick off its fall outing Oct. 5 in Berkeley, CA, with a 12-city schedule that includes an Oct. 27 stop at the Las Vegas Vegoose music festival. Before the trip gets underway, the group is scheduled to play a pair of festival dates--Seattle's Bumbershoot and Chicago's Download--on back-to-back days, Sept. 1-2.
Indie outfits The Shaky Hands and Vetiver will take turns handling opening duties throughout the headlining portion of the tour; check The Shins ' website to find which opening act is playing on a specific date. All Shins dates are shown below.
Presale tickets for all shows except Atlanta and Raleigh are available through the band's website; presales for Atlanta and Raleigh begin tomorrow (8/14).
"Wincing the Night Away," which hit stores in January, is The Shins' third album, and the long-awaited follow-up to 2003's "Chutes Too Narrow." The group burst onto the scene with 2001's critically acclaimed "Oh, Inverted World."
Several songs from the set are currently streaming at the band's MySpace page, and the group recently added the video for the new album's "Turn on Me" to its official website.
