GWAR joins 'Viva La Bands' roster
Monsters of metal GWAR are the latest addition to the Viva La Bands lineup, a traveling hard rock festival involving MTV star Bam Margera and some of his TV friends.
"This tour is now a full blown rock show since we confirmed GWAR," said Margera in a press statement. "GWAR assures the tour of even more madness and mayhem."
"I guess Bam didn't get enough of us when we were on 'Viva La Bam,'" added GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus. "We're excited to torture him some more on this tour."
In addition to GWAR and previously announced headliners Cradle of Filth , the tour's lineup also includes CKY, which features Margera's brother Jesse, and Swedish rockers Vains of Jenna , whom Margera recently signed to his Filthy Note recording label. The tour's publicist said that "a very special guest act" would be revealed later this summer, and additional guest appearances are expected throughout the tour.
"It's a new age vaudeville show," Margera said in a press release about the tour, which will feature appearances along the way from Bam as well as "some of his well-known friends."
"My MTV shows sometimes don't air the really funny or risky scenes, so I raided their vault and decided to put the best never-before-seen clips on tour," Margera continued. "I'll also preview some behind-the-scenes footage from my new film currently in production, 'Minghags.'"
The rolling revue kicks off Sept. 24 in Baltimore, with plans to hit 30 cities through early November. All dates for the tour, which is being promoted as a partnership between Margera and Rockstar Energy Drink, are shown below.
The tour will follow shortly after the Sept. 4 release of "Viva La Bands: Volume 2," a dual CD/DVD that features tracks from 20 bands (including brand new songs by Clutch, Bloodhound Gang, Children of Bodom, In Flames, CKY and others), as well as behind-the-scenes footage of Margera and others. The set is a dual venture between Filthy Note and Ferret Music.
