Gov't Mule rides 'High' again on fall tour
The band--which recently finished up a summer run with guitarist Warren Haynes ' other going concern, The Allman Brothers Band --will kick off its fall schedule Sept. 3 in Aspen, CO. Haynes is scheduled to make a solo appearance at the Sept. 9 Farm Aid show on Randall's Island in New York, but that won't affect Gov't Mule's schedule, which runs through a Halloween night show in St. Paul, MN.
All dates for the outing, most of which feature alt-country act Grace Potter & the Nocturnals as show openers, are included below. The group's Oct. 5 show in Wallingford, CT, will also feature special guests Little Feat.
"High and Mighty" was co-produced by Haynes and Gordie Johnson, former member of Canadian blues-rock outfit Big Sugar. The challenge, as usual for Gov't Mule, was in capturing the dynamics of its live act in a studio environment.
"We took the interplay that happens on stage and utilized it to create something magical in the studio," Haynes said in a press release. "Even within the structures of some of the more straight-ahead rock songs, this band plays with a jazz sensibility."
