Jimmy Eat World lights up North America

Jimmy Eat World is planning another round of North American dates to coincide with the band's long-awaited forthcoming album, "Chase This Light."

So far, the itinerary has the Arizona-based pop-punkers sticking close to the West Coast, but more shows are expected, according to a press release. The current schedule shows the trek kicking off Sept. 29 at a radio festival in Queen Creek, AZ. Details are listed below.

Jimmy Eat World has been all over the globe in the past few months, debuting songs from the new album, which is due Oct. 16. The band did an intimate tour of the US earlier this summer, then followed up with its first outing in South Africa and a string of European festival performances, which wrapped in the UK last weekend.

"Chase This Light" is Jimmy Eat World's first full-length studio set since 2004's gold-certified "Futures," which landed on end-of-year best-of lists complied by Rolling Stone, Blender and Spin.

Executive producer Butch Vig recently described the new album in a statement as "Quite eclectic," adding "There are three or four songs that sound like classic Jimmy Eat World, with angular, razor-sharp guitars. There are a couple that are a lot more dreamy, and some that are very groove-acious."

The record's lead single, "Big Casino," is currently available at online music stores and a sample of the song is streaming at Jimmy Eat World's MySpace page.
