Evanescence headlines fall trek

Fresh off the Family Values Tour, Evanescence has announced a fall headlining trek of the US and Mexico.

The outing, which will also feature Australian modern-rock trio Sick Puppies and electronic rockers Julien-K , is set to kick off Oct. 23 in Coral Gables, FL, and play US cities from coast to coast though mid-December. So far, venues have been announced in select cities; those are listed below, along with the dates and cities for the majority of the tour.

In early November, Evanescence will jet to Mexico for gigs in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Details about those shows can be found at the band's website.

"I am excited to be headlining our own tour this fall," band frontwoman Amy Lee said in a statement. "While Family Values Tour was fun, it will be nice to do something special for Evanescence fans. This time around, we will get to spend more time with the audience and play a longer and more diverse set."

The Arkansas-bred alt-rockers have been on the road all year supporting their sophomore release, "The Open Door," which surfaced last October. The set debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and reached platinum status a month later, according to a press release. It has sold nearly 2 million copies in the US.

Song samples from the album, including the singles "Call Me When You're Sober," "Sweet Sacrifice" and "Lithium," are streaming at Evanescence's MySpace page.

"The Open Door" follows the band's acclaimed 2003 debut, "Fallen," which has sold more than 15 million copies on the strength of radio hits including "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal." That set also earned Evanescence two Grammy Awards in 2003: Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance for "Bring Me to Life."

In the midst of supporting the new record, Evanescence has undergone some personnel changes. In May, guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray left the band, reportedly under less than amicable circumstances. They were replaced two weeks later by guitarist Troy McLawhorn and drummer Will Hunt, both of whom were plucked from alt-metal act Dark New Day.
