Coheed and Cambria conclude saga with new album

Progressive emo-rockers Coheed and Cambria are gearing up for a North American tour to support their forthcoming album, "No World for Tomorrow," which is the final chapter in a five-part saga.

The band will launch the outing Oct. 20 in Toronto and then play US dates from coast to coast through late November with guests Clutch and The Fall of Troy.

Coheed and Cambria will warm up for the trek with shows in Columbia and Europe this month, and an Oct. 19 benefit concert in New York City to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. The group will also do an Oct. 27 set at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans. North American dates are listed below.

"No World for Tomorrow," Coheed and Cambria's sophomore set for Columbia Records, is scheduled to drop Oct. 23. The album marks the conclusion of "The Amory Wars," the conceptual, apocalyptic storyline that runs through the band's previous albums. The saga tells the story of a doomed married couple who are convinced that they must sacrifice their children to save the world from being infected by a virus that is embedded in their genes.

The lead single from the set, "The Running Free," is streaming at the band's MySpace page.

"No World for Tomorrow" follows 2005's "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness," which reached No. 7 on The Billboard 200.

Between albums, Coheed and Cambria has suffered through some rough times. The band reportedly was forced to cancel a European tour last year following the departures of drummer Joshua Eppard and bassist Michael Todd. Eventually, Todd returned to the fold and Eppard was replaced by Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie. Coheed and Cambria also had to deal with the loss of an inspirational family member, frontman Claudio Sanchez's aunt Antonia Cristiano, who died from Alzheimer's disease.

The new album is dedicated to the memory of Cristiano, a psychologist who played an essential role in the band's early career. She counseled the members through growing pains and kept them from breaking up in 2002, according to a press release.
