Relient K, Switchfoot team up for late-year trek
Christian alt-rockers Relient K and Switchfoot will join forces for a 30-city co-headlining tour this fall and winter, with some of the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity.
"We've been trying to get back on the road with Switchfoot ever since the first time we toured together," Relient K lead singer Matt Thiessen said in a press statement. "The two of our bands combine for a really diverse show that seems to flow together in a very natural way. We're also big fans, so we get to ask for their autographs and take pictures with them every night."
According to a press release, the two bands "discovered they shared a mutual respect for Habitat for Humanity," so one dollar from each ticket sold during the outing will be donated to the organization, which seeks to eliminate poverty and homelessness, partially by constructing housing for those without shelter.
The outing will kick off Oct. 16 in Charleston, WV, with shows in 30 cities scheduled through early December. All dates are below.
Switchfoot is touring behind last December's "Oh Gravity," the San Diego band's sixth album. The group worked on the set with noted British producer Steve Lillywhite (The Rolling Stones, U2).
Released in March, Relient K 's most recent studio album, "Five Score and Seven Years Ago," is the band's fifth album in seven years. The record follows 2004's "Mmhmm," which earned the group its third consecutive gold album certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.
