Annie Lennox brings 'Songs of Mass Destruction' to US
Veteran musician Annie Lennox has mapped a North American tour that will support her forthcoming album, "Songs of Mass Destruction."
The outing launches on the West Coast in early October and will touch down at theater-sized venues in 15 cities by the time it wraps up Nov. 11 in Boston. The itinerary is included below.
Six days before her tour's Oct. 8 kick off, Lennox issues "Songs of Mass Destruction," her follow-up to 2003's "Bare." The singer recorded the set in London, Los Angeles and Miami with super-producer Glen Ballard.
"I feel closer to my own cutting edge than before and my voice seems to be in its prime," Lennox said in a press release.
Lennox, who rose to fame as one half of the '80s duo The Eurythmics, issued her solo debut, "Diva," in 1992. Since then, she has sold over 78 million records worldwide, according to a press release.
In 2004, Lennox won in the Best Original Song category at both the Academy Awards and Golden Globe awards for "Into the West," a cut she co-wrote and performed for the motion picture "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."
