Dinosaur Jr. continues 'Beyond' reunion
Indie rockers Dinosaur Jr. continue to support their reunion album with a slate of US dates in November and December.
The club/theater tour is set to kick off Nov. 23-24 with a two-night stand in Boston, and will roll across the East Coast and Midwest before wrapping Dec. 15 in Aspen, CO. Details are listed below.
The band covered the western US and Canada in the spring to coincide with the May release of "Beyond," the reunited trio's first recording together since 1988's "Bug." The last studio album under the Dinosaur Jr. name was 1997's "Hand It Over," but that was primarily recorded by singer/guitarist J Mascis.
The group's other original members, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph, left in the late '90s as tensions between the bandmates grew. Barlow focused his attention on his other project, Sebadoh, and Mascis eventually retired the Dinosaur Jr. name to work as a solo artist under the name J Mascis and the Fog.
The three original Dinosaur Jr. members got back together in 2005 to support the reissue of their first three albums, and the reunion stuck.
"Beyond" reached No. 4 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and No. 69 on The Billboard 200. A few songs from the set are streaming at Dinosaur Jr.'s MySpace page.
