Buddy Guy keeps busy with late-year shows
Tireless blues legend Buddy Guy continues his hectic schedule of appearances this fall, and the 70-year-old performer is already beginning to sketch out his plans for next year.
Guy will launch the next leg of his never-ending world tour Oct. 11 in Maryland Heights, MO, just one of the 14 dates the singer/guitarist has on his plate through mid-November. His long-term calendar also includes the framework for a spring Canadian tour, with three shows already in the works, kicking off April 3 in Kitchener, Ontario. All of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's currently scheduled dates are listed below.
Last October, Guy released his first-ever career-spanning box set, "Can't Quit the Blues," which features three CDs that include six previously unreleased tracks covering the blues-rock icon's 50 years in music.
The set also features a 90-minute DVD documentary on Guy's life and career with previously unseen live footage and six performances from his years at the Montreux Jazz Festival beginning in 1974. A 40-page color book with notes by Anthony DeCurtis and rare photos of Guy is included, as well, according to Guy's website, which is streaming his music.
Guy's most recent studio set, 2005's "Bring 'Em In," featured a number of guest shots, including Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Tracy Chapman, Robert Randolph and Keith Richards, all of whom helped Guy cover a variety of rock classics.
