Ozomatli bundles up for winter tour
Latin-pop ensemble Ozomatli has mapped out dates for a winter tour that will keep the nine-piece group busy promoting its latest studio album through the cold months.
The Los Angeles-based multi-ethnic crew--who recently performed at halftime during a Sept. 23 Dallas Cowboys-Chicago Bears tilt as part of the NFL's observation of Hispanic Heritage Month--will kick off its "Ozo on Ice" winter tour Nov. 14 in Petaluma, CA.
The 14-city outing takes place entirely on the western side of the country, with multi-night engagements in San Francisco and Los Angeles following brief visits to Colorado, Arizona and Nevada. All dates are shown below, including the band's Oct. 21 headlining appearance at Monterey, CA's Monterey Music Summit, a two-day outdoor festival also featuring The Roots, Cake and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
Ozomatli is touring behind April's "Don't Mess With the Dragon," its fourth studio album and, according to the band, it's most cohesive and polished effort to date.
"There is more of a sense of personal responsibility on this one," said bassist Wil-Dog Abers on the group's website. "All of us are on this road of being more responsible in our own lives, becoming happier human beings, healthier in our lives outside of the band. In the process of making the record, people were really deep in the process of getting their lives together. It made a big difference."
"The healthier people get, the better the music gets," he added.
