Kanye West heads out for 'Graduation' tour
Kanye West is packing his suitcase for a world tour that will see him play a handful of North American shows beginning this month.
The hip-hop star, who is supporting his new album, "Graduation," is set to launch the outing Oct. 12 in Nashville. From there, he'll visit Vancouver, Winnipeg, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami into November. In the midst of the US tour, West will break away for a concert in Dubai, and will head to Europe in November. North American shows are listed below; overseas dates can be found at the Roc-A-Fella Records website.
West made chart history again last month with the release of "Graduation," which snagged the No. 1 spot on The Billboard 200 with first-week sales reaching nearly 957,000 units. It marked the biggest debut of any album since the Grammy winner's sophomore set, "Late Registration," two years ago, according to a press release. "Graduation" also established a new one-week digital sales record, logging more than 132,000 album downloads.
So far, the album has spawned Top 10 rap track "Can't Tell Me Nothing," rap/pop hit "Stronger" and the latest single, "Good Life," which debuted on a recent episode of HBO's "Entourage," in which West makes a guest appearance.
The flamboyant performer first made a name for himself behind the production board, working with artists including Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Ludacris and Alicia Keys. In 2004, he released his first solo album, "The College Dropout," which scored multi-platinum status and a whopping 10 Grammy nominations. West went home with three trophies at the 2005 ceremony and scored another three the next year for "Late Registration."
