Morrissey gig plagued by plumbing snafu in LA
Problems with the plumbing at LA's Palladium have forced promoters of Morrissey 's current 10-night engagement at the theater to cancel two shows in order to make repairs.
The problems stem from a ruptured water main, according to promoter Live Nation, which also owns the venerable theater. Tickets for either of the canceled performances--Oct. 2 and Oct. 4--will be honored at either the Oct. 8 or Oct. 9 shows, Live Nation announced in a press release. Otherwise, tickets can be returned for a full refund.
Morrissey had completed one show--the Oct. 1 opener--at the venue before the plumbing incident. The former Smiths lead singer's next Palladium show will take place Friday (10/5).
The Palladium concerts will be the 67-year-old theater's last shows for quite some time; after Morrissey finishes his run, the venue is scheduled to undergo extensive renovations. Morrissey also has another long run lined up later in the month when he hits New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom for a five-night engagement.
The singer has added a few dates to the latter end of his tour, which might be his final performances for quite some time. Morrissey has spent 21 months on the road promoting his eighth studio album, "Ringleader of the Tormentors," which was released early last year.
"These shows will be the last Morrissey will do for the foreseeable future," the singer's publicist said in an August press statement. "With that in mind, all of the venues have been specifically chosen, as they are small and intimate where Morrissey can see the eyes of everyone in the audience and those in attendance can be in the thick of it."
