R. Kelly sketches out three-month tour
It looks like R. Kelly will be back on the road next month for a 39-date arena tour that will criss-cross the US.
The trek, which is also expected to feature R&B acts J. Holiday , Ne-Yo and Keyshia Cole , is set to launch Nov. 14 in Columbus, GA, and stretch through mid-January. The itinerary is listed below.
Apparently, Kelly decided it was time to hit the road after his trial on child pornography charges was postponed indefinitely, according to MTV News. However, he must receive permission from the court to travel.
The next status hearing in the case is set for Nov. 2, MTV reported, adding that if Kelly is convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
Five years ago, the R&B star was charged with multiple counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl.
The legal troubles don't appear to have hurt his career too much. Kelly notched his sixth No. 1 album in June with his latest offering, "Double Up." The set, which has since been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, has spawned the hits "I'm A Flirt," "Rock Star" featuring Ludacris and Kid Rock, and "Same Girl," a duet with Usher.
The Grammy-winning singer last toured in the spring of 2006 to support his 2005 release, "TP.3 Reloaded," which also snagged the No. 1 spots on The Billboard 200 and the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
