Pepper headlines fall outing

Reggae/ska/dub/punk band Pepper is getting ready to set out on a headlining trek that will crisscross the US into December.

The 31-date club/theater tour, said to be the trio's biggest headlining jaunt to date, will get under way Oct. 17 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Fellow reggae-rockers The Expendables will come along for the entire ride, with Passafire and VH1 reality-TV stars Whitestarr appearing on select dates. The itinerary, which also includes an Oct. 28 stop in Toronto, is listed below.

Pepper has been on the road most of the year, headlining an extensive spring tour and then appearing on one of the main stages for the full run of the Van's Warped Tour.

The band continues to support last year's "No Shame," its fourth record and first for major label Atlantic. A diverse lineup of producers including 311's Nick Hexum, No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal and former Butthole Surfer Paul Leary worked on the 18 track-set, which Pepper drummer/vocalist Yesod Williams said captures the vibe of the live show, according to a press release.

The Kona, HI-bred trio also released a b-sides collection, "To Da Max," in March. That set comprises unreleased songs, demos and live performances recorded between 1997 and 2004. One track, "2B," is streaming at the band's MySpace page.

Pepper members Williams, Bret Bollinger and Kaleo Wassman formed the band in the islands and then relocated to Southern California in 1999, thanks to a promotional deal with surf/skate/snow-lifestyle company Volcom Entertainment.

Their involvement with Volcom led to a spot on the 2001 Warped Tour and the guys have since toured with artists including 311, Snoop Dogg, and G Love & Special Sauce, and have sold more than 200,000 records, according to a press release.
