The Wallflowers expand US tour
The Wallflowers have added a half dozen shows to their intimate club tour, which now stretches from coast to coast.
In addition to a handful of previously announced East Coast dates, the roots rockers will visit California and several cities in the Midwest. After a two-year hiatus from the road, they launched the outing Sunday (10/7) at Mobile, AL's Bayfest and will continue Oct. 18 in Washington DC. Details are listed below.
A limited number of pre-sale tickets to select shows are available at The Wallflowers' fan-community website.
Pianist/organist Rami Jaffe has left the band while guitarist Stuart Mathis has joined the fold for the upcoming concerts, according to The Wallflowers' website. Mathis traveled with the group during its "Rebel, Sweetheart" tour.
The band continues to support 2005's "Rebel, Sweetheart," which reached the Top 40 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The Wallflowers, who are known for waiting at least a couple of years between albums, have not yet said when they might release a follow-up.
Meanwhile, vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Jakob Dylan recorded a few solo tracks last year, including "Stardust Universe," which was featured on an episode of CBS-TV's "Jericho," and the song "Whispering Pines," which is included on The Band tribute album "Endless Highway." Dylan also joined Dhani Harrison on the tune "Gimme Some Truth" for the recently released CD "Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur."
The Wallflowers broke out in 1996 with "Bringing Down the Horse," which spawned the radio hit "6th Avenue Heartache" and the Grammy-winning "One Headlight."
