Evanescence expands US trek
Alt-rockers Evanescence , who are getting ready to launch a tour of the US and Mexico, have added several dates and tweaked their schedule a bit.
The trek kicks off Oct. 23 in Coral Gables, FL, and criss-crosses the US into December. A Nov. 25 show originally scheduled in Colorado Springs, CO, has been moved to Denver and, since last check, stops have been added in Lincoln, NE; University Park, PA; Wilkes-Barre, PA; Manchester, NH; Amherst, MA; and Kingston, RI. The US itinerary is listed below.
In early November, the band will cross the border for shows in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Meanwhile, Evanescence is up for Best International Rock Artist at the MTV Latin America Awards, which will take place Oct. 18 in Mexico City. Information about Mexican tour dates can be found at the group's website.
The outing is scheduled to visit a mix of arenas, sheds and theaters, and will feature Australian modern-rock trio Sick Puppies and electronic rockers Julien-K in the opening slots.
Evanescence has been on the road all year supporting its sophomore release, "The Open Door," which topped The Billboard 200 chart when it was released a year ago. The set sold more than 447,000 copies its first week out and reached platinum status a month later, according to a press release. It has since sold nearly 2 million copies in the US.
Videos for the singles "Good Enough," "Sweet Sacrifice," "Lithium" and "Call Me When You're Sober" can be accessed at Evanescence's MySpace page.
"The Open Door" followed the band's Grammy-winning 2003 debut, "Fallen," which has sold more than 15 million copies on the strength of radio hits including "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal."
