Aaron Neville maps December tour
Aaron Neville returns to the road this winter without his brothers for a brief run of solo headlining dates concentrated in the southern US.
The New Orleans-bred performer--who hasn't released an album of new material since last year's Christmas-themed "Bring It on Home ... The Soul Classics"--will kick off the holiday-themed tour Dec. 6 in Orlando, FL, with seven shows planned for the outing, which will feature the singer backed by a quintet that includes his saxophonist brother Charles (also a member of the family's bread-and-butter act, The Neville Brothers).
Information on obtaining pre-sale tickets for the December shows can be found at Neville's website.
The singer moved from his longtime hometown of New Orleans to "exile" in Nashville following 2005's Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed his home in the city and ruined many of his gold and platinum records and memorabilia from his five decades in the music business, according to an Associated Press story that ran last year.
Neville has no plans to return to his hometown. "I've got a memory and I'll leave it at that," Neville said in the article, adding that he was advised by his doctor to stay away from New Orleans because of his asthma.
Neville's last non-holiday studio album was 2003's "Nature Boy: The Standards Album," on which the singer tackled a variety of classics from the popular American songbook, including songs by George and Ira Gershwin, and Cole Porter.
