Led Zeppelin catalog goes digital

The music of legendary rock act Led Zeppelin is making the leap into cyberspace this fall, with the band's catalog scheduled for release via digital retailers next month.

Beginning Nov. 13, all of the band's original albums will be available for full-album or a la carte download from all online music stores, according to a press release.

Albums hitting the Internet include "Led Zeppelin" (1969), "Led Zeppelin II" (1969), "Led Zeppelin III" (1970), "Led Zeppelin IV" (1971), "Houses of the Holy" (1973), "Physical Graffiti" (1975), "Presence" (1976), "The Song Remains the Same" (1976) and "In Through the Out Door" (1979). Also headed to the Net are: "Coda" (1982), a collection of odds and ends compiled after the band's breakup in the wake of drummer John Bonham's death; and the live set "How the West Was Won" (2003), a live set featuring recordings culled from some 1972 shows in Long Beach and Los Angeles, CA.

Meanwhile, on Nov. 13, Rhino Records will offer up "Mothership," a 24-track, two-disc collection of hits taken from all eight of the band's studio albums. The set will include new liner notes from veteran rock journalist David Fricke.

The complete "Mothership" track listing, as well as streaming samples of all 24 tracks, are available at the album's website.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Led Zeppelin has sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, according to a press release. As previously reported, surviving band members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones--along with John Bonham's son, Jason--will team up for a one-off concert Nov. 26 at London's O2 arena as part of a tribute to late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
