Neil Young adds more NYC dates to 'Chrome' tour
Neil Young has added several new New York City shows to his calendar as the rock veteran prepares to head out on the road in support of his forthcoming album, "Chrome Dreams II."
The new dates follow Young's previously announced Dec. 12 and 13 shows in the Big Apple's United Palace, bringing that engagement to a total of five consecutive nights. Young's tour, which gets underway tomorrow night (10/18) in Boise, ID, will take the singer/songwriter and his band to 17 cities overall.
Dates for the trek are listed below, including Young's hosting of the 21st annual Bridge School Benefit concerts, set for Oct. 27 and 28 in Mountain View, CA. He'll be joined on the bill by Metallica, John Mayer, Tom Waits with the Kronos Quartet, and The trio of Eddie Vedder, Flea and Jack Irons, among others.
Young's backing band for the tour will include Ben Keith (pedal steel guitar, dobro and other instruments), Ralph Molina (drums) and Rick Rosas (bass), all of whom were on hand in Northern California last summer to help record "Chrome Dreams II."
As reported previously, fans who purchase tickets to Young's upcoming trek will receive a code good for a free digital download of the new album through Warner Brothers Records' online store; fans who purchase four or more tickets are eligible to receive two copies of the album.
"Chrome Dreams II"--set for release Oct. 23 and currently available as a pre-order through iTunes--clocks in at more than an hour, featuring eight new Young compositions and two from the singer's archives among its 10 tracks.
Fans who can't wait for the album's release can preview four of the set's songs--"Dirty Old Man," "The Believer," "The Way" and "Spirit Road"--on Young's MySpace page.
