Aerosmith Pulls The Plug On US Tour Plans
Aerosmith will not take part in this year's Woodstock anniversary show, officially citing production and scheduling difficulties as the reason, it was announced Monday (6/21). The Boston-based band has also confirmed that they will not make their way back to the West Coast to replay a series of postponed dates.
The announcements follow a pair of cancelled shows on the band's current European tour. Shows scheduled for June 12th in Hamburg, Germany and June 14th in Munich, Germany were cancelled with little notice. The Hamburg show, which was to feature performances by the Black Crowes and Lenny Kravitz, was reportedly called off as fans waited outside the gates of the venue. Problems with the roof were cited in that cancellation.
Woodstock recently lost Jeff Beck as a featured act, and tickets remain available despite a wide-reaching roster of artists including the Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morissette, Los Lobos, Limp Bizkit, Jewel, Willie Nelson and George Clinton.
Media reports suggest that despite official statements, the band's management and Woodstock officials may not have been able to come to terms over some issues regarding the band's appearance.
In a brief statement, the band collectively said they ''send out a heartfelt apology to fans who had purchase tickets to see them perform as part of the weekend festival.''
In May, the band missed shows in Bakersfield, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Mountain View, CA and George, WA; due to an illness in the band. Those dates were expected to be played following a European tour which is currently scheduled to end July 17th in Lisbon, Portugal.
