West Point recruits Dave Matthews Band
The Academy beat out more than 100 other colleges to win the "World's Loudest Pep Rally" competition, which prompted football and music fans to send creative invitations to the band online and through AT&T wireless text. Dave Matthews Band received more than 3 million invitations, according to its website.
The schools were originally vying for one DMB concert, but a second West Point show was added to insure that all cadets have the opportunity to attend. The Nov. 14-15 performances will also include Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
"We started out playing at college campuses and that audience has remained loyal to us and our music throughout our entire career," Dave Matthews Band said in a statement. "We're always excited to go back to our roots."
A limited number of free tickets are being made available to fan club members through the official Dave Matthews Band fan association website, where ticket requests will be taken through noon on Monday (10/29).
DMB also recently announced that it will play its final public show of the year Nov. 13 in East Rutherford, NJ. Robert Randolph and the Family band will also join in on that concert at the IZOD Center (formerly Continental Airlines Arena). Fan-club members can request pre-sale tickets until Monday (10/29); the general on-sale begins Nov. 3.
