Masked hardcore crusaders The Locust [ tickets ] will emerge from their underground lair later this month to launch a headlining tour behind the group's latest offering, "New Erections."

The San Diego-based experimental punk outfit will bring along a plethora of grindcore and noise-rock support acts for the outing, which kicks off Oct. 30 in Orangevale, CA. The 30-city trek winds its way across the US and Canada and back, returning to San Diego in December for a hometown tour finisher. All dates are included below.

Opening acts along the way include Geronimo, Sleeping People, Yip Yip and Upsilon Acrux; Discord of a Forgotten Sketch, Child Abuse and Despised Icon will handle support chores for all of the Canadian dates.

The Locust--whose members perform in costume, including masks and tight-fitting pants and shirts--is backing its fourth studio album and second for the Anti label. Like most of the group's previous efforts dating back to its self-titled 1999 debut album, the new record clocks in at barely over 20 minutes.

The set, released in March, follows 2005's two-track, ten-minute "Safety Second, Body Last."

"I just want to change the way people look at music, or maybe just destroy it in general," said bassist/singer Justin Pearson in the group's online Anti biography. "Things are so normal, safe, 4/4 timing, blah. Sometimes it makes me want to throw up."
