Reverend Horton Heat maps long road trip
The Reverend Horton Heat and his musical companions have a long road ahead of themselves over the next several months, with new dates popping up well into next spring.
The trio--Rev. Heat (a.k.a. Jim Heath) on guitar, stand-up bassist Jimbo Wallace and new drummer Paul Simmons--launched its mega-tour earlier this week. Including tonight's (11/2) show in St. Petersburg, FL, the band will visit almost 40 cities through January, then saddle up again in April for another round of close to 30 appearances. All dates are shown below.
Third-generation country rebel Hank Williams III --who has scheduled a Dec. 18 release for his fourth studio set, "Damn Right, Rebel Proud"--will provide opening support on all dates through the end of the year, while psychobilly outfit Nashville Pussy will add another layer of support on all Reverend Horton Heat dates through May of 2008.
The Reverend and his crew released their first-ever holiday album, "We Three Kings," in 2005, a collection of 12 well-known holiday favorites, including such Christmas-season classics as "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Run Rudolph Run," "Silver Bells" and "Pretty Paper." The disc also includes one original composition, "Santa on the Roof."
The band's most recent non-holiday-flavored full-length release was 2004's "Revival," although last year saw the retrospective "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection" in stores. The album collects tracks from the band's two releases on Interscope: 1996's "It's Martini Time" and "Space Heater" from 1998.
Heath himself has set a Jan. 8 release date for "Hi-Fi Stereo," the debut effort for his current side project, Reverend Organdrum. Aside from Heath on guitar, the trio features Tim Alexander playing Hammond B-3 organ, and Todd Soesbe on drums.
