DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist expand 'Hard Sell' tour
Turntablist/producers DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist will launch an expanded version of the live-mixing Hard Sell show the pair previewed this summer in Los Angeles.
The first few dates of the tour, which is "expected to cover the USA and Canada," according to Shadow's website, currently comprise six shows spread over January and February of next year, kicking off Jan. 19 in Dallas.
According to the website, more dates and venues will be announced at the MySpace page the two California DJs have set up to promote the shows.
The live-mixing effort, which becomes the third touring enterprise that the duo have produced since 1999 (previous tours produced a pair of live discs--1999's "Brainfreeze" and last year's "Product Placement"), utilizes eight turntables, four mixers and two effects pedals, according to a short promotional video streaming at the MySpace site.
Cut Chemist--who previously worked with Los Angeles Latin funk act Ozomatli (appearing on the group's first two albums) and rappers Jurassic 5, released his first full-length solo album, "The Audience's Listening," in July of last year.
Davis, CA-born DJ Shadow released his third full-length effort, "The Outside," last fall. The artist--whose real name is Josh Davis--released the groundbreaking "Entroducing ..." in 1996, a record that made the Guinness Book of World Records in 2001 under the entry "First Completely Sampled Album."
