James Blunt plots February VH1 tour dates
James Blunt will hit the road in February atop the bill of a new edition of VH1's "You Oughta Know" tour as he continues to back his second studio album.
The British singer/songwriter's tour kicks off Feb. 4 in Seattle, with 11 cities on the itinerary through early March. Singer Sara Bareilles --whose major-label debut, "Little Voice," hit stores in July--will handle opening duties for all of the outing's dates, which are included below.
Blunt's edition of the VH1 tour follows a pair of similar tours that hit the road earlier this year headlined by Mat Kearney and Brandi Carlisle, respectively. The outings are based on the cable network's "You Oughta Know" program, which highlights young, rising artists.
In September, Blunt released "All the Lost Souls," the follow-up to his 2004 debut, "Back to Bedlam," which sold 11 million copies worldwide, according to his record label. The new disc, recorded live in the studio by Blunt and his backing band and produced by alt-rock studio wiz Tom Rothrock (who also produced "Bedlam"), debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling about 92,000 copies in the US in its first week of release.
"The songs are really personal," Blunt told LiveDaily in September. "They're about my own experiences, my life. They're about what it is to be staying conscious but have to deal with yourself and relationships with friends and family, and then also to have to deal with the group. When we recorded it, we wanted to make sure we captured that human spirit. That's why we recorded it as a live album."
