Metallica [ tickets ] announced on Tuesday (6/13) that it will join the Tattoo the Earth lineup--featuring Slipknot, Slayer, Sevendust and more--on July 20 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Metallica kicks off its own Summer Sanitarium tour on June 30 with Korn [ tickets ], Kid Rock [ tickets ], Powerman 5000 [ tickets ] and System of a Down.

In addition to the one-off date with Tattoo the Earth, Metallica [ tickets ] is also appearing at two other festival shows that are not part of the band's Summer Sanitarium tour. On June 23, the group will perform in Seattle, Wash. as part of the three-day Experience Music Project festival, a bill that also features Dr. Dre, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Snoop Dogg and more.

Metallica and fellow Summer Sanitarium tour artist Kid Rock [ tickets ] are also scheduled to perform at the July 22 Rockfest in Chicago, Ill., which features Stone Temple Pilots, Third Eye Blind and others.
