Michael Buble books 2008 roadwork
After closing out his 2007 calendar with concerts in Europe and South Africa, crooner Michael Buble will return to the North American tour circuit early next year.
The Canadian native plans to open his 2008 performance schedule with a tour of his home country that kicks off in mid-January and stretches through early February; he'll follow that with a new round of US shows that launch in late February and, so far, stretch into mid-March. Details are included below.
Buble continues to back his third studio album, "Call Me Irresponsible," which surfaced in May and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart; the set took over the No. 1 spot during its second week in stores.
"Call Me Irresponsible" comprises standards including "I've Got the World on a String," "The Best is Yet to Come" and a gospel version of Frank Sinatra's "That's Life," as well as covers of Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" and Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." It also introduces two new originals, including the Buble-penned radio hit "Everything," one of several tracks streaming at his MySpace page.
The new album follows 2005's platinum-selling "It's Time," which has remained on the The Billboard Traditional Jazz chart for two years and won four Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys).
Buble, who has drawn comparisons to legendary crooners like Sinatra and Tony Bennett, has sold at least 13 million albums worldwide since bursting onto the scene in 2003, according to a press release.
