Spoon decks the halls with holiday gigs
Indie rockers Spoon get into the holiday spirit in December, with a lineup of radio-sponsored Christmas shows on tap as the band continues to back its latest studio set.
The seasonal cheer kicks off Dec. 3 in Columbus, OH, where the band participates in radio station CD101's Low Dough Show. Highlights of the trek include the Dec. 6 107.7 The End Deck the Hall Ball in Seattle, which sports a lineup that includes Modest Mouse, Jimmy Eat World, Coheed and Cambria and others, and a Dec. 9 appearance in Universal City, CA, as part of a bill featuring Feist, The Shins, and Modest Mouse again.
Lead singer Britt Daniels will also play a solo set opening for Silversun Pickups Dec. 13 in the band's Austin, TX, hometown, before Spoon closes out its year with a New Year's Eve show in Chicago. All dates are listed below.
Released July 10, "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" is Spoon's sixth studio album and follows 2005's "Gimme Fiction." A limited-edition version of the album that includes a bonus disc titled "Get Nice!" was released concurrently with the regular version. The bonus disc features a handful of instrumental songs, along with a few demos.
Several tracks from the new disc (as well as selected songs from throughout the band's career) are streaming at Spoon's recently redesigned official website.
