Ween maps Southeast tour to kick off 2008 plans
The duo--who only have a pair of New York City dates beginning tomorrow night (11/30) left to complete on their current stretch--will hit primarily Southeastern destinations on Ween's first trek of 2008, kicking off Jan. 23 in Washington, DC.
The eight-city tour will run into the first days of February and precedes an Australian jaunt that the Ween "brothers"--a.k.a. Mickey Melchiondo and Aaron Freeman--have lined up for later in the month. All of the pair's international dates are posted at the band's official website
"La Cucaracha," the duo's new studio album and first for the Rounder label, hit stores in October. The disc is the band's first full-length release since 2003's "Quebec."
The new set was recorded "in a rented, moldy 200-year-old farmhouse in our hometown of New Hope, PA," according to Dean Ween, who labeled it in a press statement "a party record, unlike our last record which was more of a Jonestown type party vibe. This record is a lot more fun because that's where we're at right now."
An EP, "Friends," appeared in June, the set containing five original songs, none of which appear on "Cucaracha." The EP can only be ordered through the duo's website.
