NOFX skates into 2008 headlining run
Skate-punk stalwarts NOFX launch the first leg of a US tour in February behind the release of their second live album, "They've Actually Gotten Worse Live."
The veteran act will celebrate their 25th year of existence in 2008, kicking off the first leg of an expected four-part attack on American cities Feb. 22 in Orlando, FL.
Fellow punk acts No Use for a Name and The Flatliners will offer opening support on the trek's first leg, with American Steel taking over opening duties on the tour's next segment, with dates yet to be announced. "The third leg of the tour will be in the Northeast and at this point it is a total mystery," the band said in a press release. "The fourth and final leg will be closer to home and god knows when this will happen."
Released in November, "They've Actually Gotten Worse Live" is a 24-track CD and double-vinyl LP that was recorded over three nights of concerts in early 2007 in the band's adopted hometown of San Francisco. The set is the band's second live release, following 1995's "I Heard They Suck Live!!"
The band's most recent studio work, 2006's "Wolves in Wolves' Clothing," was produced by Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore in Colorado Springs, CO.
The 18-song, 30-minute set contains four songs from the band's recent "7" of the Month Club" series of singles: "Leaving Jesusland," "I'm Going to Hell For This One," "You're Wrong" and "You Lose Your Faith." The latest set from the politically active band, who launched the anti-Bush website Punkvoter.com in 2003, also includes the songs "USA-holes" and "The Marxist Brothers," which singer Fat Mike described in a press release as having "a hip-hop beat with ska/new-wave guitar and a Beatles melody."
