Eminem Tops Album Chart Again
Eminem 's recent legal woes did nothing to slow sales of his latest disc "The Marshall Mathers LP," which kept the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top 200 album chart for the third week in a row after selling 598,563 copies last week.
"The Marshall Mathers LP" debuted at No. 1 following its May 23 release. The disc also set a new record for the highest seven-day sales figures of any rap album after selling roughly 1.76 million copies in its first week. On Friday (6/15), Eminem will begin touring with Dr. Dre's "Up In Smoke" tour.
Britney Spears' "Oops! … I Did It Again," meanwhile, climbed back up to No. 2 after spending last week at No. 3. "Oops," also debuted at No. 1 in its first week.
Kid Rock's latest, "The History of Rock," was pushed down from No. 2 to No. 3 after selling 247,000 copies in its second week. "The History of Rock" is a compilation disc made up mostly of previously released songs, as well as a couple of new tracks. Rock will hit the road later this month as part of Metallica's Summer Sanitarium tour. He will then headline tour of his own beginning in August.
'N Sync's "No Strings Attached," which holds the record for the highest seven-day sales figures of any album, is up to No. 4 this week after spending last week in the No. 5 spot. "No Strings" trades places with matchbox twenty's recently released "Mad Season."
